Decentralised Energy Systems
At the beginning of the '90s, only 3.1% of German energy was derived from renewables. In 2011, the target of generating approximately 20% of electricity from renewable sources was achieved. These figures clearly demonstrate the speed at which renewable electricity generation has expanded in Germany. Rhineland-Palatinate aims to generate 100% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030. Renewables currently account for approximately 25% of the federal state's gross power consumption.
Besides the intelligent combination of various renewable energy sources in decentralised energy generation systems, our working group also focuses on innovations in the areas of recycling and treating biomass.
