Agri-photovoltaic project with 15.4 megawatts starts in Saarland – financing via crowdfunding

In Gersheim, Saarland, the company Next2Sun is implementing one of Germany’s largest agrivoltaic projects to date with a planned output of 15.4 megawatts. The special feature of this project is the vertical installation of bifacial solar modules in an east-west orientation. This design allows over 90 percent of the area to be used for agriculture at the same time, which makes an important contribution to sustainable land use and the compatibility of energy production and agriculture.

The investment is partly financed by crowdfunding via the Grüne Sachwerte platform. Private investors can participate in the project from as little as 500 euros. The aim is to enable citizens to play an active role in shaping the energy transition and at the same time create transparent, sustainable investment opportunities.

Commissioning of the plant is planned for summer 2025. According to Next2Sun, the project should not only be an ecological model for future developments in the field of agrivoltaics, but also an economic one.
