Wind energy projects: JUWI and Koehler Group focus on sustainable power generation

JUWI commissions 25th wind turbine on the Gollenberg

The project developer JUWI has put another wind turbine into operation in the Gollenberg wind field in the district of Germersheim in Rhineland-Palatinate. The Vestas V162 turbine has a rated output of 5.6 MW and can generate around 12.5 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year, which corresponds to around 5,000 households. This commissioning increases the total output of all the turbines installed there to 60 MW, which supply around 120 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year. The surrounding municipalities also benefit financially through a municipal levy in accordance with Section 6 of the EEG, which amounts to around EUR 25,000 per year.

Koehler Group plans wind farm for self-supply in Oberkirch

The Koehler Group, a southern German paper producer, is planning to build a wind farm with two turbines near its plant in Oberkirch. The planned wind farm is expected to supply around 30,000 megawatt hours of electricity per year, covering around 30% of the plant’s energy requirements. It is noteworthy that the project is to be realized without government grants or subsidies. The systems are connected directly to the plant, which enables efficient self-supply. Koehler Renewable Energy, a subsidiary of the Koehler Group, is responsible for the planning, construction and operation of the wind farm.
