Water and Waste Water
Fresh water is an increasingly scarce and precious resource. Ultimately only 1% of fresh water, i.e. only 0.007% of all the water found on earth, is suitable for direct use by humans. Therefore, the world market for water technologies is growing. Experts believe the volume will account for $1 billion annually by the year 2020 – 25% of the sales of the global construction industry.
Issues which we address within this topic area include innovative approaches for treatment and filtering technologies, as well as ideas for raw material recovery from waste water or the utilisation of sewage treatment plants and digestion towers as energy storage systems.
