„StArfrica - Startup Germany-Africa“ launched
With its above-average economic growth in recent years, Rwanda is one of Africa's emerging countries. And this trend is to be continued with the innovative project "StAfrica", which is being supported by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy with 1.19 million euros.
In cooperation with the University of Rwanda in Kigali, ZIFET, the Central Institute for Scientific Entrepreneurship & International Transfer of our Ecoliance member, the University of Koblenz-Landau, wants to promote the foundation of companies in the field of science. On the one hand, young Africans are to be sensitized, motivated, advised and supported in setting up their own business in Germany. On the other hand, young German companies in the field of science are to be sensitised to the possibility of entering the African market. The project should contribute to an economic exchange of start-up teams between the two countries with their respective start-up ecosystems.
In the long term, StArfrica should serve as best practice for comparable projects at other universities in Rwanda and even at universities in other African countries such as Morocco or Kenya.
