Low Carbon and Circular Economy Business Action in the Americas
Do you know about the Low Carbon and Circular Economy Business Action in the Americas initiative? It is funded by the European Union and aims to strengthen the EU's position as a leader in the fight against climate change by promoting the decoupling of economic growth and CO2 emissions in the Americas.
The launch event took place on 14 January 2021. European SMEs and small mid-sized companies, regardless of sector, working on green tech can benefit from the project. European business networks and industry clusters are seen as key to accelerate the identification of the right companies.
Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia and Mexico are markets with strong growth opportunities. At the same time, these markets have a clear demand for green technologies and solutions for the transition to a circular economy. However, European companies still face market entry and expansion challenges that include structural, language and regulatory barriers, quality standards, exchange rate risks and varying levels of technology transfer and trade requirements. Such challenges can be overcome through a guided approach to the market, access to relevant support mechanisms, accurate identification of business opportunities and building solid relationships with the right business partners.
For this reason, the Low Carbon and Circular Economy Business Action has developed a range of business support measures. These include targeted SME matchmaking events, one-to-one meetings, Business Innovation Challenges and support to access investment and co-financing. The project also plans to provide technical assistance to turn the most promising transatlantic business concepts into successful business relationships. This includes, for example, trade orientation, identification of co-financing opportunities, product adaptation to the market and legal advice.
