Lectures for Future

The Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences took up the idea of bringing together scientists to form "Scientists for Future" to support the global student movement "Fridays for Future" for active climate protection. The aim was to call on professors for the period from 14 to 20 June 2019 to offer lectures on the subject of climate under the title "Lectures for Future". Numerous universities and colleges responded to this call and more than 200 lectures on climate change were offered.

The member universities and colleges of Ecoliance Rhineland-Palatinate took part in the Lectures for Future with various events: Dr. Zimmer-Müller from the University of Koblenz-Landau offered the event "Environmental Education" and Mr. Engl the event "Fundamentals of Chemistry". Dr. Benzing from the Technical University of Bingen organized the event "Science Lounge - Who saves the climate? At the Umwelt-Campus Birkenfeld Prof. Enders gave a lecture entitled "Clean Air Planning and Diesel Driving Bans - Current Developments in Jurisdiction and Legislation" in the public lecture series on Climate Protection and Sustainability, which takes place every Monday evening in the summer semester at the Umwelt-Campus. Finally, Prof. te Heesen from Umwelt-Campus and member of the board at Ecoliance introduced the students of the of the lecture series "Energy Technology" to the basics of climate change.

The Lectures for Future enabled the universities of the Ecoliance Rhineland-Palatinate to join the broad movement towards sustainable development and climate protection. The close integration of teaching and public events promotes the intensive exchange of scientists, students, and the general public in order to involve all groups in the current processes in research, business, and society.
