Ecoliance visits the Wirtschaftsbetrieb Mainz AöR

Meeting at a members company, in order to get to know the companies innovations, its interests and its wishes, has proved so effective that the executive committee continued this practice last week. This time, the visitors were invited to the Wirtschaftsbetrieb Mainz AöR, accompanied by the new research team of UmTecNetz-Potenzial RLP.

The visitors were welcomed by Mr. Herbert Hochgürtel, head of the department of wastewater treatment and technical network facilities, and were informed about the latest activities of the firm. Currently, a mono incineration plant is in the planning stage, with which the firm is able to burn its sludge for energy production. For this purpose, the company cooperates with the cities of Kaiserslautern, Ingelheim, Wiesbaden, and with smaller municipalities, which want to take part in the project with their sludge, said Mr. Hochgürtel.

The company with its 260 employees also benefits from a cooperation with the Technical University of Kaiserslautern. Here, science and practice are working hand in hand on a 4th treatment stage in the largest municipal sewage treatment plant in Rhineland-Palatinate.
